IOU the Truth
Life in California. Golden eagles, grizzly bears, poppy
flowers, stunning sunshine, not enough rain, and now . . . IOUs.
Being a Californian is embarrassing these days. Yes, the great state
residents bragged about for so long, the world's 8th largest economy.
What IOUs are you issuing, as a leader? What are you hoping or planning
to do? What are you expressing, aloud, that you will do?
Unlike the IOUs the State of California is handing out, yours will not
earn interest.
Promises to manage differently, those uttered publicly and noted
privately, swiftly devalue.
Don't pledge. Do. Don't bail out. Avoid or stop.
Issue promises for behaviors for which you don't need to borrow time or
money.
